Who we visit in Bulleen
Bulleen was built out in the 1960s and 70s, and many of the families who moved in then are still there, now in their seventies and eighties. The suburb has a large Italian-Australian community and more recent Chinese and Greek families, and it is common for a son or daughter to contact us on a parent’s behalf. We welcome a family member sitting in if English is not the first language at home. We also visit residents of the suburb’s retirement villages and aged care homes, NDIS participants, and people recovering from surgery.
Walking and balance in Bulleen
Bulleen’s streets are hilly in parts, so leg strength often comes first. The reward is the Yarra flats on the suburb’s western edge, where the paths around Heide Museum of Modern Art, the Bulleen parklands and the river trail are flat, open and full of places to sit. Bulleen Plaza and the Bulleen Road and Manningham Road bus routes are practical goals for people who want to manage their own errands and travel again.
After hospital
Bulleen residents are usually treated at the Austin in Heidelberg, Epworth Eastern in Box Hill or the private hospitals in Kew. A short block of home physiotherapy in the first weeks after a joint replacement, a fracture or an illness helps the discharge stick. We follow the plan your surgeon set and make sure the house, with its steps and slopes, is managed safely.

Nail and skin care, diabetic foot assessments, ingrown toenail care and footwear advice are all available at home across Bulleen. Regular podiatry is especially important for the many residents here managing diabetes with their GP.
