Home visit physiotherapy and podiatry in Heidelberg

Heidelberg is the Austin Hospital precinct, Burgundy Street and the hilly streets above the Yarra. Our physiotherapists and podiatrists visit homes across the suburb from our Kew East clinic.

  • Your clinician comes from the Head2Toe clinic at 1407 Burke Road, Kew East
  • We visit people discharged from the Austin, the Mercy and Warringal Private in the days after they go home
  • Burgundy Street's shops and Heidelberg station are practical goals for independent errands

Served from our Kew East clinic

Our Kew East clinic reaches Heidelberg in a few minutes by way of the Burke Road bridge and Lower Heidelberg Road. Tell us if continuity with a particular clinician matters to you and we will do our best.

Home after the Austin

The Austin Hospital, the Mercy Hospital for Women and Warringal Private Hospital sit together in the centre of Heidelberg, and the Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital, with its rehabilitation wards, is just to the west. A large share of the people we visit across the north east have just come home from one of them, and for Heidelberg residents that journey is especially short. It is common for us to visit within days of discharge. We follow the plan your surgeon or hospital physiotherapist set, make sure the house is safe to move around in, and rebuild strength and walking where it matters.

Who we visit in Heidelberg

The suburb has a high proportion of older residents, many in the homes they have owned for decades on the hilly streets above the river, and many more in the retirement villages and aged care homes clustered near the hospitals. We also visit NDIS participants in the apartments along Burgundy Street and Bell Street, and people recovering from surgery.

Hills and the river

Heidelberg is steep in places, so leg strength and safe stair technique usually come first. The reward is Warringal Parklands and the Yarra flats, where the paths are level, shaded and full of benches. Burgundy Street’s shops and Heidelberg station are practical goals for people who want to manage errands and travel on their own again.

Podiatry at home

Nail and skin care, diabetic foot assessments, ingrown toenail care and footwear advice are all available at home across Heidelberg, including in retirement villages. On hilly streets, well-fitting shoes with good grip matter more than usual.

Nearby suburbs

We also visit Ivanhoe, Heidelberg West, Bulleen and Kew East.
