Across the river from our clinic
Our Pascoe Vale Road clinic is a short drive from Maribyrnong by way of the Maribyrnong Road bridge, which keeps travel time low and visit slots flexible. The suburb is one we cover regularly.
Who we visit in Maribyrnong
Maribyrnong has two quite different halves. The newer Edgewater estate and the apartments along the river are home to many NDIS participants and younger families, while the older streets up the hill towards Highpoint and Raleigh Road have long-term residents who want to stay in their homes as they age. We visit both, as well as the suburb’s aged care homes and retirement living.
Walking and recovery by the river
Pipemakers Park and the river trail that runs through it are among the flattest and safest walking routes in the west. A home physiotherapy program in Maribyrnong often works towards a loop of the park or a walk along the water from Edgewater. Highpoint Shopping Centre is a practical goal for people who want to manage their own shopping again, and its long, level concourses are good for building walking distance under cover.
After hospital
Maribyrnong residents are often discharged from Footscray Hospital or the Royal Melbourne. We visit in the first weeks home after joint replacements, fractures and illness, following the hospital’s plan and getting you moving safely in your own house.
Podiatry at home
Nail and skin care, diabetic foot checks, ingrown toenail care and footwear advice are available at home. People who walk a lot, whether along the river or around Highpoint, need comfortable feet to keep doing it.
Nearby suburbs
We also visit Ascot Vale, Aberfeldie, Maidstone and Avondale Heights from the Moonee Ponds clinic.
