Served from our Moonee Ponds clinic
Maidstone is across the river from our Pascoe Vale Road clinic, reached by way of Maribyrnong Road and Highpoint. Travel is short enough that visits fit easily into a clinician’s day, and we can usually offer a choice of times.
Who we visit in Maidstone
Maidstone’s streets of post-war homes have a strong community of long-time residents, many from families who settled here from Europe and later from Vietnam in the decades after the war. Staying in the family home is the goal we hear most, and the children and grandchildren of those residents are often the ones who contact us. We also visit NDIS participants, residents of the suburb’s aged care homes, and people recovering from surgery. If English is not the first language at home, we welcome a family member sitting in.
Walking and balance in Maidstone
The suburb is mostly flat, which helps. Local reserves have level paths close to most homes, and the Maribyrnong River trail is a short distance east for longer walks once you are ready. Highpoint Shopping Centre is a practical goal for people who want to manage their own shopping, and its level concourses are good for building walking distance under cover on hot or wet days.
After hospital
Maidstone residents are usually treated at Footscray Hospital or the Royal Melbourne. We visit in the first weeks after discharge from joint replacements, fractures and illness, following the hospital’s plan and checking that the home is safe to move around in.
Podiatry at home
Our podiatrists visit Maidstone for nail and skin care, diabetic foot assessments, ingrown toenail care and footwear advice. Regular podiatry is especially important for the many residents here managing diabetes.
Nearby suburbs
We also visit Maribyrnong, Footscray, Avondale Heights and Aberfeldie from the same clinic.
