Our clinic is in the suburb
The Head2Toe clinic at 30 Sydney Road has been part of Brunswick life for years, and a good share of our home-visit clients here used to come through its doors before a fall, an operation or a diagnosis made the trip hard. Visiting them at home is a natural extension of what we already do, and because travel is so short, visit times are flexible.
Who we visit in Brunswick
Brunswick is a suburb of contrasts. Long-time residents, many from the Greek, Italian and Lebanese families who settled here decades ago, live in the terraces and brick homes between Sydney Road and Lygon Street and want to stay there. Newer apartment buildings along Sydney Road and near the stations house NDIS participants and people recovering from surgery. The suburb also has public housing and several aged care homes. We visit all of them, and we are used to planning around narrow streets, lifts and limited parking.
Walking and balance in Brunswick
Brunswick is flat, and the Upfield bike path, the Merri Creek trail on the eastern edge, and parks such as Gillon Oval and Temple Park all offer level, well-kept walking. Sydney Road’s shops, the Brunswick Baths and the tram stops are practical goals for people who want to manage errands and travel on their own again.
After hospital
Brunswick residents are usually treated at the Royal Melbourne Hospital in Parkville, a few minutes down the road, or at John Fawkner Private in Coburg. We regularly see people in the first weeks after discharge from joint replacements, fractures and medical admissions, following the hospital’s plan and getting them moving safely at home.
Podiatry at home
Nail and skin care, diabetic foot assessments, ingrown toenail care and footwear advice are all available at home. Many of our regular podiatry clients in Brunswick are older residents who can no longer reach their own feet.
