Home visit physiotherapy and podiatry in Carlton

Carlton is Lygon Street, the Exhibition Building gardens and one of the inner city's largest housing estates. Our physiotherapists and podiatrists visit homes across the suburb from our Brunswick clinic.

  • Your clinician comes from the Head2Toe clinic at Suite 1, Level 1, 30 Sydney Road, Brunswick
  • We visit the Carlton housing estate towers and walk-ups on Lygon and Rathdowne Streets
  • Carlton Gardens and the Lygon Street strip are the local walking goals

Reaching Carlton from Brunswick

Our clinic on Sydney Road is a short run down Lygon Street or Rathdowne Street to Carlton. Parking and building access are the usual challenges in the inner city, and our team is used to both. If your building needs us signed in or buzzed up, tell us when you enquire.

Visiting the Carlton estate

The public housing towers and walk-ups on Lygon Street, Rathdowne Street and Elgin Street are home to many older residents and people living with disability, and they are among the places we visit most often in the inner north. We know the access arrangements, we work in apartment-sized spaces, and we set up exercises using a chair, a wall and a doorway rather than equipment there is no room for. If a support worker or family member helps with daily care, we show them the program too.

Who else we visit in Carlton

The terraces around Drummond Street and Canning Street house long-time residents who want to stay in their homes, and the apartments near the university house NDIS participants and people recovering from surgery. We visit all of them, along with residents of Carlton’s aged care homes.

After hospital

Carlton sits between the Royal Melbourne Hospital in Parkville and St Vincent’s in Fitzroy, and many of our visits here are in the weeks after discharge from one of them. We follow the hospital’s plan, make sure the home is safe, and rebuild strength and walking.

Walking and balance in Carlton

Carlton Gardens, around the Royal Exhibition Building, has wide flat paths and plenty of benches, and Princes Park is a short distance north. Lygon Street’s shops and the tram stops on Swanston Street and Nicholson Street are practical goals for people who want to shop and travel on their own again.

Podiatry at home

Nail and skin care, diabetic foot assessments and footwear advice are available at home. For estate residents especially, regular foot care keeps people mobile and out of hospital.

Nearby suburbs

We also visit Carlton North, Parkville, Fitzroy and North Melbourne.
