Home visit physiotherapy and podiatry in Clifton Hill

Clifton Hill is a pocket of terraces and gardens where Merri Creek meets the Yarra, a short drive east of our Brunswick clinic. Our physiotherapists and podiatrists visit homes throughout it.

  • Your clinician comes from the Head2Toe clinic at Suite 1, Level 1, 30 Sydney Road, Brunswick
  • Darling Gardens and the paths at the Merri Creek and Yarra junction are the local walking goals
  • Steep streets down to the river make leg strength the first priority on some blocks

Served from our Brunswick clinic

Our Sydney Road clinic is a few minutes from Clifton Hill by way of Brunswick Road and Queens Parade. The suburb is small and well connected, so visit times are flexible.

Terraces, hills and the river

Clifton Hill’s Victorian terraces have steep internal stairs and steps at the door, and the streets towards the river and the creek drop sharply. For older residents and people recovering from surgery, those features decide whether staying at home is safe and comfortable. Our programs here work on stair technique, leg strength and the layout of the ground floor first, then balance, then walking distance.

Who we visit in Clifton Hill

Many long-time residents bought their terraces decades ago and want to stay in them. We also visit NDIS participants in the apartments along Queens Parade and Hoddle Street, people home from hospital, and residents of aged care homes in and around the suburb. Enquiries often come from adult children who live elsewhere.

Walking and balance in Clifton Hill

Darling Gardens is the local recovery walk, flat and shaded with plenty of benches. The paths where Merri Creek joins the Yarra, around Dights Falls, are beautiful once the legs are ready for the slopes. Queens Parade’s shops and the route 86 tram are practical goals for people who want to manage errands and travel on their own again.

After hospital

Clifton Hill residents are usually treated at St Vincent’s in Fitzroy or the Royal Melbourne in Parkville, both close by. We visit in the first weeks after discharge, following the hospital’s plan and making sure the terrace, with its stairs, is managed safely.

Podiatry at home

Nail and skin care, diabetic foot assessments, ingrown toenail care and footwear advice are available at home. On hilly streets, well-fitting shoes with good grip matter more than usual.

Nearby suburbs

We also visit Fitzroy North, Northcote, Collingwood and Abbotsford.
