Home visit physiotherapy and podiatry in Collingwood

Collingwood is Smith Street, Johnston Street, the old football ground and one of the inner city's largest housing estates. Our physiotherapists and podiatrists visit homes across the suburb from our Brunswick clinic.

  • Your clinician comes from the Head2Toe clinic at Suite 1, Level 1, 30 Sydney Road, Brunswick
  • We visit the Collingwood housing estate towers on Wellington Street and the surrounding streets
  • Minutes from St Vincent's Hospital, so we often visit in the first days after discharge

Reaching Collingwood from Brunswick

Our Sydney Road clinic is a short drive from Collingwood by way of Nicholson Street and Johnston Street. Parking and building access are the usual inner-city challenges, and our team plans around them. If your building needs us signed in, tell us when you enquire.

Visiting the Collingwood estate

The public housing towers and walk-ups on Wellington Street and Hoddle Street are home to many older residents and people living with disability, and they are among the places we visit most often. We know the access arrangements, work in apartment-sized spaces, and set up exercises using a chair, a wall and a doorway. Where a support worker or family member helps with daily care, we teach them the program so it continues between visits.

Home after St Vincent’s

St Vincent’s Hospital is on Collingwood’s western edge, and many of our visits here are in the first days and weeks after discharge, when someone is home from a joint replacement, a fracture or a medical admission and cannot yet manage a clinic trip. We follow the hospital’s plan, make sure the home is safe, and rebuild strength and walking.

Who else we visit in Collingwood

The suburb’s remaining workers’ cottages and terraces house long-time residents who want to stay put, and the many converted warehouses and new apartments house NDIS participants and people recovering from treatment. We visit all of them.

Walking and balance in Collingwood

Victoria Park, the old Collingwood football ground now open to the public, has a flat loop path, and the Yarra trail at Abbotsford is a short distance east. Smith Street’s shops and the route 86 tram are practical goals for people who want to shop and travel on their own again.

Podiatry at home

Nail and skin care, diabetic foot assessments and footwear advice are available at home. Regular foot care keeps estate residents mobile and out of hospital.

Nearby suburbs

We also visit Fitzroy, Abbotsford, Clifton Hill and Fitzroy North.
