Home visit physiotherapy and podiatry in Essendon

Essendon is next door to our Moonee Ponds clinic, and its wide streets of older family homes are where many of our home visits happen. This page also covers Essendon North and Essendon West.

  • Your clinician comes from the Head2Toe clinic at 42 Pascoe Vale Road, Moonee Ponds
  • This page also covers Essendon North around Keilor Road and Essendon West towards the river
  • Windy Hill, Woodlands Park and the Maribyrnong River paths are good walking goals

Next door to our Moonee Ponds clinic

Mount Alexander Road runs straight from our clinic on Pascoe Vale Road into the heart of Essendon, so travel time is minimal and visit times are flexible. Essendon North, around the Keilor Road shopping strip, and Essendon West, on the slopes down to the Maribyrnong River, are both covered by the same team.

Who we visit in Essendon

Essendon has a large population of older residents in the substantial brick and weatherboard homes between Buckley Street and Fletcher Street, many of whom have lived there for forty years or more. Staying put is the goal, and the hallways, steps and back gardens of those houses are where our home programs are built. We also visit residents of the suburb’s retirement villages and aged care homes, NDIS participants, and people recovering from surgery who cannot yet manage the trip to a clinic.

Walking and balance in Essendon

The suburb has good flat walking close to most homes. Woodlands Park, the paths around Windy Hill, and the river trail at the bottom of Essendon West all suit a graded walking program. Essendon station and the Keilor Road tram stops are practical goals for people who want to travel independently again. The hillier streets in Essendon West are useful for building leg strength once balance is steady.

After hospital

Essendon residents are often discharged home from the Royal Melbourne Hospital or from private hospitals across the north west. A block of home physiotherapy in the first weeks after a knee or hip replacement, a fracture or a period of illness keeps the recovery on track, and we follow the plan your surgeon set.

Podiatry at home

Our podiatrists visit Essendon for nail and skin care, diabetic foot assessments, ingrown toenail care and footwear advice. Many of our regular podiatry clients here are older residents for whom reaching their own feet has become difficult.

Nearby suburbs

We also visit Moonee Ponds, Strathmore, Aberfeldie and Niddrie from the Moonee Ponds clinic.
