Home visit physiotherapy and podiatry in Fairfield

Fairfield is a village on the Yarra between Northcote and Alphington, a short drive across the river from our Kew East clinic. Our physiotherapists and podiatrists visit homes across the suburb.

  • Your clinician comes from the Head2Toe clinic at 1407 Burke Road, Kew East
  • Station Street village and Fairfield station are practical goals for independent errands
  • The Fairfield Boathouse paths and Yarra Bend Park are the local recovery walks

Served from Kew East, with Brunswick as backup

Our Kew East clinic reaches Fairfield by way of the Chandler Highway bridge in a few minutes, and the suburb is also within reach of our Brunswick clinic. We usually send a clinician from Kew East, but tell us if continuity with another clinic matters to you.

Who we visit in Fairfield

Fairfield’s streets of Edwardian and Californian bungalow homes house many long-time residents who want to stay put as they age, often in houses with a step or two at the door and a sloping back garden. We also visit NDIS participants in the apartments along Heidelberg Road and Station Street, people recovering from surgery, and residents of the aged care homes in and around the suburb. Adult children arranging care for a parent make up a good share of our enquiries.

Walking and balance in Fairfield

Fairfield has some of the best recovery walking in the north. The paths around the Fairfield Boathouse and through Yarra Bend Park are flat, shaded and full of benches, and the Darebin Creek trail joins the river on the suburb’s eastern edge. The Station Street village, with its shops and cafes, and Fairfield station are practical goals for people who want to manage errands and travel on their own again. The streets down to the river are steep, so leg strength often comes first.

After hospital

Fairfield residents are usually treated at the Austin in Heidelberg, St Vincent’s in Fitzroy or the private hospitals in Kew. A short block of home physiotherapy in the first weeks after a joint replacement, a fracture or an illness helps the discharge stick. We follow your surgeon’s plan and keep your GP informed if asked.

Podiatry at home

Nail and skin care, diabetic foot assessments, ingrown toenail care and footwear advice are all available at home across Fairfield. Comfortable feet keep people walking to the river, and that is what keeps them well.

Nearby suburbs

We also visit Alphington, Northcote, Thornbury and Clifton Hill.
