Served from our Brunswick clinic
Thornbury is a short drive from our Sydney Road clinic by way of Moreland Road or Bell Street, and visits here are often grouped with Northcote and Preston. Tell us if continuity with a particular clinician matters to you and we will do our best.
Who we visit in Thornbury
Thornbury’s long streets of Californian bungalows and post-war homes have a strong community of older residents, many from the Greek and Italian families who settled the suburb in the decades after the war. Staying in the family home is the goal we hear most, and it is often a son or daughter who contacts us. We also visit NDIS participants in the newer apartments along High Street, people recovering from surgery, and residents of the suburb’s aged care homes.
Walking and balance in Thornbury
The suburb is mostly flat. Penders Park and Mayer Park have level paths close to many homes, and the Merri Creek trail along the western edge offers longer, shaded walks. High Street’s shops, Croxton station and the route 86 tram are practical goals for people who want to manage their own errands and travel again.
After hospital
Thornbury residents are usually treated at St Vincent’s in Fitzroy, the Austin in Heidelberg or John Fawkner Private in Coburg. A short block of home physiotherapy in the first weeks after a joint replacement, a fracture or an illness helps the discharge stick. We follow your surgeon’s plan and keep your GP informed if asked.
Podiatry at home
Nail and skin care, diabetic foot assessments, ingrown toenail care and footwear advice are all available at home across Thornbury. Many of our regular podiatry clients here are older residents managing diabetes with their GP.

We also visit Northcote, Preston, Coburg and Fairfield.
