Home visit physiotherapy and podiatry in Preston

Preston is the market, Northland and a sprawl of family homes between Bell Street and the Reservoir border. Our physiotherapists and podiatrists visit homes throughout it from our Brunswick clinic.

  • Your clinician comes from the Head2Toe clinic at Suite 1, Level 1, 30 Sydney Road, Brunswick
  • Preston Market, Northland and High Street are practical goals for independent errands
  • The Darebin Creek trail and local parks offer flat walking close to most homes

Served from our Brunswick clinic

Our Brunswick clinic reaches Preston in a short drive up St Georges Road or Plenty Road, and Preston visits are usually grouped with Reservoir and Thornbury so travel time is used well. That keeps visit times flexible and, for people who were clinic patients before travel became hard, often means a familiar face at the door.

Who we visit in Preston

Preston’s long streets of weatherboard and brick homes have a large population of older residents, many from the Italian, Greek and Macedonian families who settled here after the war, joined more recently by families from China, India and Vietnam. Staying in the family home is the goal we hear most. We also visit NDIS participants in the newer apartments along High Street and Plenty Road, residents of the suburb’s many aged care homes, and people recovering from surgery. If English is not the first language at home, a family member is welcome to sit in.

Walking and balance in Preston

Preston is mostly flat. Local parks such as Ray Bramham Gardens and the reserves along Darebin Creek have level paths, and the creek trail itself offers longer, shaded walks. Preston Market, High Street’s shops and Northland Shopping Centre are practical goals for people who want to manage their own errands again, and Northland’s long, level concourses are good for building walking distance under cover.

After hospital

Preston residents are usually treated at the Austin in Heidelberg, the Northern in Epping or John Fawkner Private in Coburg. We visit in the first weeks after discharge from joint replacements, fractures and medical admissions, following the hospital’s plan and checking that the home is safe to move around in.

Podiatry at home

Nail and skin care, diabetic foot assessments, ingrown toenail care and footwear advice are all available at home across Preston. Regular podiatry is especially important for the many residents here managing diabetes.
