Our clinic on Burke Road reaches Hawthorn in a few minutes by way of Burke Road and Burwood Road. Parking near Glenferrie Road can take a moment, but travel is short and visit times are flexible.
Who we visit in Hawthorn
Hawthorn has a high proportion of older residents in the Victorian and Edwardian homes along its leafy streets, many of whom have been there for decades and want to stay, and a large number of apartment buildings that house NDIS participants, students and people recovering from surgery. We visit all of them, along with the suburb’s retirement villages and aged care homes. Enquiries often come from adult children who live elsewhere.
Walking and balance in Hawthorn
The Yarra trail runs along the suburb’s western edge, flat and shaded, and Central Gardens and St James Park offer level paths and benches closer to the centre. Glenferrie Road’s shops, Hawthorn station and the route 16 and 75 trams are practical goals for people who want to manage errands and travel on their own again. The streets towards the river are steep in places, so leg strength often comes first.
After hospital
Hawthorn is home to Epworth Hawthorn, a hospital that specialises in rehabilitation, and it is close to Epworth Richmond and the private hospitals in Kew and Camberwell. Many of our visits here are in the first weeks after discharge, when someone is home from a joint replacement, a fracture or a medical admission and cannot yet manage a clinic trip. We follow the hospital’s plan and keep your surgeon or GP informed if asked.

Nail and skin care, diabetic foot assessments, ingrown toenail care and footwear advice are all available at home across Hawthorn, including in retirement villages. Comfortable feet keep people walking to Glenferrie Road, and that is what keeps them well.
