Home visit physiotherapy and podiatry in Kew

Kew is a large suburb of grand homes, steep streets and river parkland, a few minutes from our Kew East clinic. Our physiotherapists and podiatrists visit homes across it, from Kew Junction to Studley Park.

  • Your clinician comes from the Head2Toe clinic at 1407 Burke Road, Kew East
  • Studley Park, Yarra Bend and the Willsmere grounds offer some of the best recovery walking in the east
  • Kew Junction's shops and the route 109 and 48 trams are practical goals for independent errands

A few minutes from our Kew East clinic

Our clinic on Burke Road is a short drive from every part of Kew by way of High Street or Cotham Road, so visit times are flexible and travel is short.

Who we visit in Kew

Kew has a high proportion of older residents, many living in the large homes they have owned for decades on the streets around Sackville Street, Studley Park Road and Cotham Road. Those homes often have stairs, long driveways and sloping gardens, and staying in them safely is the goal we hear most. We also visit the suburb’s many retirement villages and aged care homes, NDIS participants in the apartments near Kew Junction, and people recovering from surgery.

Hills, stairs and the river

Kew is hilly, and the streets towards the Yarra drop steeply. Leg strength and safe stair technique come first in most of our programs here, then balance, then walking distance. The reward is some of the best recovery walking in Melbourne. Studley Park, the Yarra Bend paths and the grounds of the old Willsmere hospital are flat in places, shaded, and full of benches. Kew Junction’s shops and the route 109 and 48 trams are practical goals for people who want to manage errands and travel on their own again.

After hospital

Kew residents are usually treated at the private hospitals in Kew and Hawthorn, at Epworth Richmond or at the Austin in Heidelberg. A short block of home physiotherapy in the first weeks after a joint replacement, a fracture or an illness helps the discharge stick. We follow your surgeon’s plan and make sure the house, with its stairs and slopes, is managed safely.

Podiatry at home

Nail and skin care, diabetic foot assessments, ingrown toenail care and footwear advice are all available at home across Kew. On hilly streets, well-fitting shoes with good grip matter more than usual, and a footwear appraisal looks at the pairs you actually wear.
