Home visit physiotherapy and podiatry in Thomastown

Thomastown is just north of the Ring Road from Reservoir, at the top end of the area we visit. Our physiotherapists and podiatrists come up from our Brunswick clinic to visit homes across the suburb.

  • Your clinician comes from the Head2Toe clinic at Suite 1, Level 1, 30 Sydney Road, Brunswick
  • The northern edge of the area we serve, so visits are grouped with Reservoir and Preston to keep travel sensible
  • Edgars Creek and local reserves offer flat walking close to most homes

The top of our service area

Thomastown is the northern edge of the area we serve. Our clinicians come up from Brunswick by way of High Street or the Ring Road, and we group Thomastown visits with Reservoir and Preston so that the travel is done once for several people. That means we may offer particular days for the suburb rather than any time of the week, and we will tell you which when you enquire.

Who we visit in Thomastown

Thomastown was built out in the 1960s and 70s, and many of the families who moved in then are still there, now in their seventies and eighties. The suburb has one of the largest Italian-Australian communities in Melbourne, along with Macedonian, Greek and more recently Middle Eastern and South Asian families. Staying in the family home is the goal we hear most, and it is often a son, daughter or grandchild who contacts us. We welcome a family member sitting in if English is not the first language at home. We also visit NDIS participants, residents of the suburb’s aged care homes, and people recovering from surgery.

Walking and balance in Thomastown

The suburb is flat. Local reserves have level paths close to most homes, and the trail along Edgars Creek offers longer walks. The shops around Thomastown station and along High Street are practical goals for people who want to manage their own errands and travel again. Many homes here have a step or two at the front and back, and a falls prevention program usually starts with those.

After hospital

Thomastown residents are usually treated at the Northern Hospital in Epping, the Austin in Heidelberg or John Fawkner Private in Coburg. A short block of home physiotherapy in the first weeks after a joint replacement, a fracture or an illness helps the discharge stick. We follow the plan your surgeon set and keep your GP informed if asked.

Podiatry at home

Nail and skin care, diabetic foot assessments, ingrown toenail care and footwear advice are all available at home across Thomastown. Regular podiatry is especially important for the many residents here managing diabetes.

Nearby suburbs

We also visit Reservoir, Fawkner, Preston and Heidelberg West.
